Bill Roache of Coronation Street supports Crimestoppers
Bill Roache appeared on That Sunday Night Show tonight, talking to Adrian Chiles about Crimestoppers. Crimestoppers runs a free national phone line which enables people to give information about crime anonymously.
The CORONATION STREET veteran Bill Roache helped the crimefighting charity celebrate its one millionth successful call. In September 2008 he talked to the Manchester Evening News.........
'Today the star - who is one of a number of celebrity patrons and plays Ken Barlow in the soap - said he was delighted at the landmark which comes as the charity celebrates its 20th anniversary. 'He added, "I have been working with Crimestoppers for many years. It is such a very simple but very effective idea. Just a brilliant system.
"It recognises people are worried, if for instance they know of a terrorist group, or other crime but it allows people to give the information completely anonymously. Names don't appear and so there is no chance of an information leak leading to someone's name being revealed."
